The California DMV knowledge test is a multiple-choice test on the California Driver's Handbook. You get three attempts before you must reapply, and a minor who fails waits seven days to try again. The behind-the-wheel test follows once you pass, and teens must also log 50 supervised hours and hold a permit for six months.
These practice tests follow the 2025 handbook section by section: getting a license, signals and lanes, turns and parking, signs and right-of-way, sharing the road, special speed limits and the point system, safe driving in bad weather, seat belts and emergencies, DUI and insurance, and senior drivers. The road-sign test shows the actual sign pictures, the way the real test does.
