South Carolina's beginner's permit knowledge test covers the rules of the road, road signs and safe driving from the South Carolina Driver's Manual, and every first license needs the vision, knowledge and skills tests. Teens get a beginner's permit at 15, hold it 180 days with 40 supervised hours (ten at night) and driver education, then move through the conditional and special restricted licenses with their 6 p.m. and midnight limits before full privileges at 17.
