Minnesota's Class D knowledge test mixes multiple-choice and true-or-false questions on the traffic laws and road signs in the Minnesota Driver's Manual, and you need 80 percent to pass. Teens start with an instruction permit at 15 after driver education, hold it six months with 40 or 50 supervised hours (15 at night), then carry a provisional license with midnight-to-5 a.m. and passenger limits before the under-21 license.
